SeaView 2 B&W InfraRed

The SeaView InfraRed-Enhanced Black & White camera gives you sharp and clear pictures, even in dirty water, under rocks, and in dark holes.  The white infraRed technology sees more because the infraRed emitters are built into the camera probe.  The Black & White/IR transmits and receives infraRed light.

The Black & White versatile unit is trollable, mounts to any boat hook or pole, and runs on 110AC or 12VDC.  The Black & White/IR Camera is a complete system that includes a 5 inch black + white TV monitor with built-in AM/FM radio.  There are cables and connectors for powering from internal monitor batteries, 12VDC from external batter or boat, or 110AC with the included transformer-adapter.  A 300 ft. cable is optional.

HeadingFAQ
FAQQ

How maneuverable is the Probe? How can I control its direction?

FAQA

The probe can be dropped straight down by its control cable for an 85-degree wide-angle view.  Used in this manner, you can see a large expanse of bottom, as well as fish under the boat.  In conjunction with your existing sonar or fish-finder, you can identify hard bottom structure, and many species of fish before ever wetting your line.
Trolling is simple.  We've trolled the camera by its own steel-reinforced camera cable at speeds up to 12 knots, with no problems.  For the smoothest trolling and total control, use a down rigger or planer and track the probe directly in front of your bait.  Some users employ a release clip at the front of the probe, and run the bait or lure in that position to view or videotape the fish striking the bait.  The release clip then does its job and the angler can play and land the fish as they usually would.
The control cable exits the camera housing at the fin-end.  By using a clamp, the cable's pivot point can be moved forward, changing the horizontal azimuth of the camera's trolling angle.  For additional control, attach a length of mono filament or leader at the front of the probe, and "steer" by pulling left or right.
Check you anchor.  Attach a steel ring, cord, or rope..slide right down the anchor line and take a look, day or night.  Also included in the kit is a pole attachment for use with any pole, gaff, or boat hook.

FAQQ

How portable is it?

FAQA

Totally portable. With the standard TV monitor, you can operate the camera probe from the monitor's internal batteries.  You also get all the cables and connectors you need to adapt to 12V on board the boat, from your car, truck, or RV--any cigarette lighter socket, deep cycle battery, or auxiliary 12 VDC source.  Plus, there's a 110AC adapter for house current.  Depending on battery type, you can expect up to six hours of power from the internal monitor batteries...use NiCads and recharge them right in the TV, overnight.

FAQQ

How well can I see in poor quality water?

FAQA

Distances will carry, and too much mud or silt will obscure distant details even in infrared light.  Our users report useful viewing ranges from about 6 feet away, all the way up to 15 or 20 feet, depending on the turbidiy of the water and the amount of sunlight at depth.  Focal range will capture an image from six inches all the way out to the viewable limit(optical infinity) with no external adjustments.  InfraRed-Enhanced Black & White provides its own "LightBeam" in total darkness out to 3-6 feet.

FAQQ

How do I make a videotape with these cameras?

FAQA

It's as simple as plugging in.  The camera's video out is a standard "RCA" plug...so you can plug into any TV or VCR.  Use a "Y" cable and feed video to two devices simultaneously...TV monitor on the boat deck,  VCR in the cabin.  Newer camcorders (such as the Sony 8's) have "video in" recording capability...perfect for instant viewing and recording.

FAQQ

So which is better--color or black & white?

FAQA

The choice is yours.  Keep in mind, the color spectrum drops off rapidly with depth and poor quality water.  In general, color is best for tropical latitudes, bright sun, depths less than 25 feet, and blue-water trolling.  Choose the BW-100 InfraRed-Enhanced Black & White for versatility and economy... the CL-200 Color for blue-water fishing and diving... or the CL-300 Twin-Cam for the best of both.  Water conditions where you most often fish or dive, plus your budget, are the main things to consider.
